No Time to Get Ready

Filed under: Uncategorized — biffngab at 10:56 pm on Monday, March 25, 2013

“Death don’t give you no time to get ready in this land.”

Sunshine passed away abruptly today, having seemed quite fine just 24 hours earlier. She developed symptoms throughout the night, starting with lethargy and loss of appetite. By the wee small hours (in the heart of a heavy snow), she was in very bad shape, had peed her bed and cried out in pain at least once, despite Tramadol. Having initially and wrongly assumed it was her chronic back injury acting up, we now realized it was something worse. We got her to the vet in the morning, and by then she was already becoming cold and unresponsive. Testing indicated pancreatitis, but the prognosis was for recovery after an overnight stay with IV and ultrasound the next day. Six hours later, she had a sudden cardiac event and was gone. Necropsy to follow. Very puzzling and shocking.

Gabby, by the way is going strong in remission, knock wood. Biff is strong as ever and ready to challenge Wyatt to a tug war.

We’ve been richly blessed to have Sunshine in our house for the past couple years and she’s been a great tripawd ambassador all around Indiana. Godspeed Sunny Bunny!

Oh so sorry ….it’s of something you can ever prepare for but the suddennes just adds extra kick in the gut.

Clearly this was a life well lived with love enveloping every sweet beat of that heart. You have been her champion and she has been your sunshine. That light of hers will forever shine brightly

Holding you gently in our hearts, Sally and Happy Hannah

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that Sunshine is gone. I don’t know what is worse–to have no warning or to know in advance. Been on both ends of that one and it just plain hurts like hell either way.

Sending you lots of tripawd strength and love,

    xoxoxox,
Codie Rae and the Oaktown Pack

Biff, Gabby and peoples, I am so sorry. Life just throws you for a loop like that and it rips your heart into a million pieces. I know my heart is definitely broken hearing this news about Sunshine.

I don’t understand why things like this happen. Maybe someday some great secret-keeper in the sky will explain it all. Until then I’ll be watching for signs that Sunshine is looking out for all of us Tripawd kids.

Gabby, I’m really glad you’re still going strong! And Biff, I’m ready anytime 🙂

    I’m so sorry guys.

    Sunshine’s pack,
I’m so sorry to hear about the sudden loss of sunshine. I know that a heavy cloud must loom over you now, but know that our thoughts are with you and your family.

With apologies for the long delay, Sunny was done in by “Splenic Hemangiosarcoma”. Tumors in her spleen that we never knew about burst abruptly and that was pretty much that. They tell us there was no chance anything could have been done in any case, but I sure wish that blizzard hadn’t been raging. She could’ve been a little more comfortable. I guess if that’s the only fly in the rice of her passing then we still should count blessings.

Coming soon is the story of Sunshine’s legacy who appeared on the rescue radar right on time mere weeks after Sunny’s passing. Thanks to all of you for your kind thoughts and prayers.

    😀
